How do I place an item on hold?
Answer
Holds: When an item is already checked out
When an item in the Library Catalog is unavailable because it is “In Process” or has a due date (signifying it is checked out), Cal Poly Pomona students, faculty, and staff can place a hold on that item.
Placing a hold on an item means that you will be notified (by campus E-mail) when an item that you requested becomes available. You may pick it up at the Circulation Desk on the 2nd floor. If the item is currently checked out, we expect the item to be returned by the due date; however, we do not have direct control over when the current holder of the item actually returns it.
To place a hold:
Search the Library Catalog for the item you want. The screen shots below are of an item record in a short display and in a long display. Note that the item shows a due date in the status box (which means it can have a hold place on it).

above: short display

above: long display
Click on either the “REQUEST ” link on the left of the short display or on the “REQUEST ”button at the top or bottom of the long display screen to start the hold process.
Follow the instructions on the new screen (below) to enter your name, BroncoNumber, and Library PIN/Password.

-
Click on: Submit
-
Choose one item from the list. (If there are more than one item).
-
Click on: REQUEST SELECTED ITEM
-
A message will prompt on the screen, “Your request for this item has been sent to the library”.(continue with old text)
